Signs You Need Help from a Professional Plumber

It’s good to try and fix minor issues around your home that have to do with your plumbing system if you’re trying to save some money. A running toilet or a toilet that doesn’t flush properly is something that you can probably fix on your own. A minor faucet leak or a clog in a sink pipe is something you might be able to handle on your own as well. However, there is a line that every homeowner crosses where they should hand the problem off to a plumber with experience. Here’s a list of signs when you should be relying on a professional plumber instead of handling the problem on your own.

You Can’t Fix the Clog

Clogs develop in drains around your home, and most of the time it’s really not an issue. You can use a standard clog cleaner to clear up the problem quickly and easily. If you can’t get rid of the clog, then it could be a more serious problem that needs dealing with. If this is the case for you, you’ll likely need to call in a plumber before the clog gets worse and you’re stuck with a serious problem that you don’t know how to deal with.

Flooding

If you have water leaking into your home faster than just a light dripping, you have a serious issue that must be dealt with by an experienced plumber as soon as possible. This isn’t something that you can just leave alone, and you need to get a professional in to your home to have the leak resolved as soon as possible.

Lack of Water Pressure

If you stop getting the water pressure that you once did, you could have a failing pump or your lines might be clogged somewhere. Either way, it’s a good sign that you need professional help to solve the issue before it gets worse or you have a more serious problem develop somewhere else in your plumbing system because of it.

A Leaky Faucet

A basic leaky faucet can be resolved with a new seal, but if that didn’t do the trick for you, it’s time to call in a pro to likely replace the fixture for you. A professional will understand how to properly install the fixture, and should be able to get you a properly functioning faucet before you waste too much water.

If you notice any of these symptoms, make sure that you call in a professional as soon as possible. It’s important to have the issue resolved by a professional so that the issue doesn’t get worse over time.
